There is a tendency to tell career stories from the point when success becomes visible. The promotion. The new title. The moment someone finally realizes that years of effort have led somewhere.

Ronel’s story begins much earlier.

Before becoming a manager at Vintazk Outsourcing, he was a working student trying to complete his education while earning a living. He started working during senior high school and continued throughout college, learning early that pursuing an education while meeting professional responsibilities would require discipline, sacrifice, and a willingness to keep moving even when circumstances were far from ideal.

By the time he joined Vintazk as a Customer Service Agent, he was already in his fourth year of college.

What followed became one of the most demanding periods of his life.

When School and Work Collided

Ronel was balancing regular classes, his thesis, on-the-job training, and the responsibilities that came with working in customer service.

There were periods when sleep became scarce. He remembers being thankful when he could manage even a few hours. On one occasion, after an especially exhausting stretch, he arrived for a weekend shift and unknowingly fell asleep at his workstation.

It is a memory he can laugh about today, but the circumstances behind it were difficult.

That experience also changed how he understood determination. It was not always about feeling motivated or performing at full energy. Sometimes it meant fulfilling responsibilities during difficult circumstances, learning how to prioritize competing demands, and understanding when perseverance also required better ways of managing time, pressure, and personal limits.

Working while studying forced him to develop those habits earlier than most.

It also taught him accountability. His decisions no longer affected only his grades. They affected classmates, coworkers, customers, and a team that depended on him to do his part.

A Customer Service Role Became Something More

When Ronel first joined Vintazk, his priorities were straightforward: understand the processes, serve customers properly, and perform his responsibilities well.

Over time, however, his attention began moving beyond the tasks in front of him.

He became interested in why processes worked the way they did, where improvements could be made, and how better decisions could help an entire team perform more effectively.

That curiosity became an important turning point.

Customer service had taught him how individual actions affect the customer experience. His years as a working student had taught him discipline under pressure. As his responsibilities grew, those experiences began shaping the way he approached leadership.

Eventually, the Customer Service Agent became a manager.

What Difficult Beginnings Can Teach Future Leaders

Promotion alone does not automatically create leadership. Some of the most important lessons come from remembering what it was like before the title arrived.

Ronel understands what it means to work while carrying responsibilities that colleagues may never see. That experience now influences how he looks at the people he manages.

Performance still matters. Accountability still matters. But numbers rarely tell the entire story.

For Ronel, leadership means understanding the person behind the performance while maintaining the standards the team needs to succeed. It means coaching people through difficulties, recognizing potential, setting expectations, and helping employees develop the confidence and discipline to take on greater responsibilities.

His career progression reflects a larger question facing many organizations today: What happens when companies stop looking at entry-level employees only for what they can contribute now and begin developing them for what they could become?

Building Careers From Zamboanga

That question has particular significance for a countryside BPO.

Young professionals outside the Philippines’ traditional outsourcing centers often face a difficult choice. Building a career can mean leaving their hometown, relocating to a major city, or searching for opportunities that may not exist locally.

The continued development of the BPO sector in Zamboanga City creates another possibility.

At #VintazkOutsourcing, developing homegrown talent has become part of building the organization itself. Employees can enter through frontline roles, gain exposure to global business operations, develop new capabilities, and potentially progress into specialized or leadership positions without having to leave the region to pursue professional growth.

Ronel’s journey is one example of what that opportunity can look like.

It does not suggest that every career follows the same path, nor that progress happens without setbacks. His story contains plenty of both.

What it demonstrates is what can happen when individual determination meets an environment where growth remains possible.

From Showing Up to Helping Others Move Forward

When Ronel looks back at the working student balancing classes, thesis requirements, OJT, and customer service responsibilities, becoming a manager was not the obvious ending.

The path included exhaustion, mistakes, sacrifices, and moments of uncertainty.

Yet those experiences eventually became useful in ways he could not have anticipated at the time. They taught him how to manage pressure, take responsibility, understand different perspectives, and recognize effort that may not always be immediately visible.

Today, success means more to him than moving from one position to another.

It means being able to use what difficult seasons taught him to help someone else move forward.

For Vintazk, stories like Ronel’s also illustrate why countryside outsourcing deserves attention beyond cost and location. Its impact can be measured in the careers that become possible when global business opportunities are brought closer to communities such as Zamboanga.

Sometimes the strongest evidence of a company’s culture is not what it says about developing people, but who its people are able to become after being given the opportunity to grow.

If your organization values outsourcing built around people, development, and long-term capability, discover what a Zamboanga-based team could bring to your business.
